WORKERS UNITED, NEW YORK NEW JERSEY REGIONAL JOINT BOARD SEEKS AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The NY NJ Regional Joint Board of Workers United is dedicated to winning economic and racial justice through innovative and dynamic worker-led organizing campaigns.

Our current focus is building worker leadership among the mostly immigrant women workforce across the New York nail salon industry. This growing campaign is centered around building the power of working class immigrant women of color. We are building the first-ever nail salon worker union in the United States, changing the landscape of what’s possible to win power.

We are seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Administrative Assistant who has a willingness to learn, has solid communication skills, strong sense of attention to detail and a strong work ethic and who is excited to join a small, dedicated and focused team.

Responsibilities

The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the administration of the New York Nail Salon Workers Association runs smoothly and efficiently. This includes, but is not limited to, outreach for workshops, and scheduling and licensing support for nail salon members. This position will report to the Campaign Coordinator.

Duties will vary but will include the following:

  • Answering, retuning, and following up on incoming calls and messages
  • Maintaining an accurate call log record
  • Greeting and orienting walk-ins
  • Scheduling and sending reminders for meetings, events and workshops
  • Offering licensing support
  • Coordinating logistics for meetings and workshops
  • Coordinating licensing support for worker members
  • Data entry
  • Collecting membership dues

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (including reading, writing and speaking)
  • 3-5 years of related administrative experience, nonprofit and social justice experience a plus
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong planning and prioritization abilities
  • Proven ability to manage a fast paced office and handle short and long term deadlines and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to changing requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel and Google Suite Apps including google docs and sheets
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Strong communicator with excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • A creative problem solver.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Passion and dedication to fight for progressive values and a commitment to social justice.
  • Event planning experience is a plus.

This position is currently remote work until further notice, with possible in office meetings for orientation and check-ins.

Salary: Up to $50,000 – $25.00 per hour
