The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) provides online and on campus degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of adults who are looking to finish or transition into a bachelor’s degree, earn a master’s degree or certificate in a specialized field, advance in the workplace, or change careers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Life, the Student Life College Assistant will:

Maintain a Club Officer/Advisor Database for student clubs and/or organizations
Verify student eligibility for leadership roles in clubs

Provide assistance to students by responding via email or phone to general/routine inquiries, as appropriate

Provide clerical support to the Office of Student Services on special programs when needed

Assist with the department’s communication and outreach schedule and initiatives (social media posting and monitoring; helping to create and distribute marketing collateral, etc.)

Compile and distribute resources for CUNY SPS club officers and faculty/staff advisors

Assist department with planning an execution of all aspects of Student Life events.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED

Preferred Qualifications:
Some related experience with providing administrative support

Some familiarity with adult-learners, veterans/military, persons with disabilities, or distance-learners.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with particular strength in online communication

Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties easily and work independently as well as part of a team

Strong computer application skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook; Teams, and Prezi preferred
Strong familiarity with social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms preferred

Some experience with web-based conferencing: Zoom, Skype, GoTo Meeting, etc.

Some experience planning and assisting with special events

Note: While this College Assistant position is currently remote, the selected finalist is expected to have access to a laptop/computer, internet and phone access to perform most job duties and responsibilities. Upon return to normal campus operations, this position will transition to our physical office located at 119 W 31st Street, New York, NY 10001.

Salary Range: $17-$20 per hour based on qualifications and experience.

Hours: 20 hours per week
