We teach adults from low-income and diverse communities how to code and help them get engineering jobs in tech. Our graduates go from making $18,000 to over $85,000 a year, going from poverty to the middle class. Graduates are hired at leading companies such as Pinterest, Kickstarter, IBM, Jet, JPMorgan Chase. Participants are representative of the diversity of the NYC community with over 50% women, 60% African American or Hispanic, and 50% immigrant, and 50% without a college education.

C4Q is a rapidly growing startup that’s scaling to make national impact. Founded in 2011, C4Q has doubled in budget and staff each year over the past 4 years. Just three years ago we had only two employees. We are currently a team of 20 and anticipate doubling our team to 40 this year. Position Summary

The Community Manager will be responsible for building community across the organization, with a focus on alumni and volunteers. The Community Manager will engage, educate, and advocate on behalf of our community and will work cross-functionally throughout the organization to enhance the experience for our volunteers and alumni. Your work will include serving as a support center, organizer, and marketing resource for our community of alumni and volunteers, crafting content for our social channels, planning and leading events ranging from intimate gatherings to large scale productions, developing volunteer opportunities for our partners, and ultimately ensuring that C4Q’s values and mission are front and center in everything we do. The community manager will also help recruit the next generation of Access Code participants through marketing efforts and the organization of information sessions.

 Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the C4Q volunteer engagement program, including:
  • Recruit, train, and continually engage volunteers across all programs and functions
  • Create metrics and conduct ongoing evaluation of the programs and services delivered by volunteers; implement improvements as necessary
  • Ensure that volunteers are given appropriate training and level of supervision to be successful in their positions
  • Develop and drive an Access Code alumni engagement program, including:
  • Creation of relevant communication/marketing materials and leading alumni gatherings
  • Create metrics as well as drive planning and execution across alumni program
  • Understand needs, changes, and opportunities in alumni community
  • Drive loyalty, satisfaction, and build out alumni network
  • Identify and serve as point of contact for Community Partners including tech groups, non-profits, schools, and other community orgs.
  • Set the standards for as well as lead the organization and execution of C4Q community events including: meetups, info sessions, and other program events such as Demo Day and Graduation
  • Leverage volunteer connections and existing opportunities to facilitate growth of partnership opportunities
  • Work with Partnerships team to craft volunteer opportunites for our partners
  • Lead recruitment efforts across C4Q, including recruitment for AC students and volunteers
  • Attend and represent C4Q and its programs at various events

 Qualifications

  • Experience in community management and building, marketing, and/or relationship management
  • Outgoing personality, ability to work with multiple stakeholders from various backgrounds
  • Able to motivate and influence others and build relationships
  • Able to communicate precisely and effectively, both verbally and in written form
  • Experience organizing events and effectively managing resources
  • Able to work independently
  • Basic analytical ability to provide insights on program efficacy
  • Excellent attention to detail and record keeping
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong mission and values alignment with C4Q, and interest in technology
