Urban Green Council Seeks Education Development Coordinator (NYC)

Advance the green building movement nationwide through education.

Urban Green Council seeks a new team member to advance the green building movement through the development of education programs. The Coordinator will have a direct impact on the green building movement, driving the advancement of the construction and building operations industries in the United States. With U.S. buildings consuming over 40 percent of the nation’s energy, this position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in cutting the nation’s carbon emissions and leading these industries towards sustainability.

About Our Educational Programs

Conquering the Energy Code reveals the structure and rationale behind the New York State Energy Code. The program teaches architects and engineers how to navigate the various pathways to compliance and how to incorporate best energy conservation practices into their projects. The courses translate the code into plain English, and include practical information about documentation requirements and progress inspections.

GPRO is Urban Green’s flagship education program, teaching construction workers and building operators what they need to know to successfully build and run high performance buildings. With 95% of students reporting that the course helped them perform their job better and only 8,000 trained in an industry of hundreds of thousands, the program is poised for enormous expansion. The Coordinator will facilitate the development of new education programs as well as maintain and improve existing programs. Urban Green courses reach all sectors of the building industry: building owners, real estate companies, construction trade unions, USGBC chapters, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and trade associations.
