POSITION OVERVIEW

WPA’s Workforce Development & Employment Services(WDES) department is looking for an experienced Employment Specialist who is excited about Workforce Development, and highly skilled in participant job-readiness preparation. The Employment Specialist will serve as primary contact for all pre-placement participant activities. Also, oversees resume and cover letter development, as well as standalone job-readiness workshops.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Serving as WDES’ primary resume and cover letter development contact; partnering with program participants to co-develop their employment search tools.

Serving as the pre-placement liaison between participants and workforce partners (internship, training, and employment).

Conducting participant screenings for all WDES placement opportunities.

Hosting regular standalone job-readiness workshops to support participant skills development.

Partnering with Coordinator of Training & Placement to coordinate scheduling for all standalone job-readiness trainings.

Conducting regular follow-up with partners pre-placement to promote partnership development and continued placement opportunities.

Partnering with Manager of Workforce Partnerships to track all existing and pending workforce partnerships data.

Partnering with Manager of Workforce Partnerships around Q&A/ information sessions for all applicable workforce placement opportunities.

Working with Manager of Workforce Partnerships and Program Manager and Coordinator of Training &Placement to create and develop new internship, training, and employment opportunities.

Working closely with Manager of Workforce Partnerships to build, grow, and strengthen employer partner network and placement pathways.

Partnering with WDES team and program participants to continually develop and enhance the Accelerated Job-Readiness Training (AJRT).

Partnering with WDES team to evaluate training materials and technologies to be used for all job-readiness trainings and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS should include, but are not limited to:

Strong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Experience in workforce development programs serving marginalized participants is preferred.

Skilled communicator and problem solver, with the ability to deftly manage relationships with various stakeholders.

Ability to create a strategy, work plan and gather resources needed for interventions.

Highly self-motivated, with proven capacity to work independently and take initiative.

Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills

Experience with office computer applications required

The expected salary range for this position is $40K-$43K. WPA offers a competitive benefits package and generous time off policy, including medical, dental and vision insurance; pre-tax parking and transit benefits; and a time off policy including personal days and floating holidays.
