The coalition successfully championed and won nearly a dozen voting rights reforms including making New York the 38th state to have early voting. Starting in November 2019, New York will have nine days of early voting before every election. We are now pivoting to early voting implementation, the NY Votes Early Campaign Organizer will begin to conceptualize and execute a turnkey statewide public education campaign, and supporting our partners and activists from Buffalo to Bay Ridge.
Lead NY Votes Early Education Campaign organizing agenda:
- Identify and mobilize organizational partners throughout the state to participate in the NY Votes Early education campaign.
- Provide event support for partners and grassroots activists, developing an event kit and helping partners and activists brainstorm local events.
- Activate Common Cause/New York’s 60,000+ grassroots members to participate in the NY Votes early education campaign.
- Manage student interns and volunteers in support of mobilization efforts.
Create communications collateral in support of campaigns and digital organizing efforts:
- Collaborate with Executive Director and other staff to write, edit and send digital communications (email, social, media, text, and web) that mobilize constituents throughout New York State to participate in the NY Votes Early education campaign.
- Develop and write public outreach materials including fact sheets, action alerts, presentations, and online updates.
- Responsible for online organizing and digital communications, including website updates, working in collaboration with the national digital team and coalition design team.
- Perform administrative tasks such as record and track metrics, coordinate community event and volunteer calendars, database maintenance, lobbying reports, participate in conference calls, report on metrics and goals.
Experience, education and technical proficiency:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in community organizing, advocacy and/or political campaigns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and current social media platforms required.
Ideally you have:
- Familiarity with, and skill in, online advocacy, social media campaigning and distributive organizing.
- Ability to build and cultivate relationships with people and organizations of various orientations and backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills and the ability to motivate people to act.
- Experience working with competing priorities and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of state legislative and government processes, voting rights reform issues helpful.
- Spanish language skills desired, but not necessary.
- Action Network (or similar website and advocacy management program) mastery a plus.
