National Network for Safe Communities Seeks Field Associate, Intimate Partner Violence Intervention (NYC)

THE NATIONAL NETWORK FOR SAFE COMMUNITIES AT JOHN JAY COLLEGE (NNSC) seeks a full-time Field Associate for the Intimate Partner Violence Intervention (IPVI) team to manage day-to-day support and advising to jurisdictions implementing the IPVI. The Field Associate will provide hands-on strategic advising to project managers and law enforcement executives; manage the process of jurisdictions’ data collection and analysis; help manage grant reporting and related deliverables; develop resources and materials related to the IPVI; develop highly customized technical assistance and capacity building measures; and assist site leadership to organize direct communication with survivors of intimate partner violence and individual offenders.

The NNSC supports cities to implement and advance proven strategies that reduce violence and improve public safety, minimize arrest and incarceration, strengthen communities, and improve relationships between law enforcement and communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, intensive support through technical assistance, strategic advising, and data management to NNSC sites implementing IPVI
  • Liaise with high-level government, community and law enforcement leaders
  • Track, organize, and analyze key metrics of strategy implementation at NNSC sites
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the NNSC to create systems, tools, and processes to track key metrics of strategy implementation, success and innovation at NNSC sites
  • Report internally to NNSC leadership on site progress, challenges, and innovations
  • Assist in responding to inquiries on the implementation of IPVI
  • Support the development of written materials such as proposals, progress reports, call notes, etc.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • An entrepreneurial, highly-motivated individual with excellent organization skills; strong attention to detail; and ability to independently prioritize and simultaneously handle multiple tasks
  • Must have two or more years’ experience working on intimate partner violence and/or sexual assault issues and have knowledge of policies and laws impacting individuals experiencing intimate partner violence
  • Must be willing to work both with domestic violence advocacy community and batterer/offender service providers
  • Experience and comfort working with law enforcement (police, military, correctional/probation staff, etc.) and/or experience in community organizing/engagement preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in public policy, public administration, criminology, sociology, social work, law, or related field preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary for corresponding with senior political and law enforcement personnel
  • Exceptional collaborative skills and the ability to interact with other office staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
