Responsibilities will include planning and implementing several programmatic events a year, as well as developing strategies to best leverage the work to bring ioby to the next level of citizen engagement. The Events Manager will also contribute 20% of their activities to planning ioby’s fundraising events. JOB ACTIVITIES:
80% of work will be devoted to constituent convenings and local leader cultivation events. 20% of work will be devoted to fundraising events.
- Work with local ioby City Action Strategists and the Communications & Creative Strategy Director to develop strategies to grow ioby’s national constituency through events;
- Work with on-the-ground staff to plan and implement local convenings in Detroit, Memphis, Cleveland, NYC, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC;
- Help develop event program content including trainings, skill-sharing, panel discussions, moderated conversations, and others;
- Interface directly with ioby’s national network of community leaders and partners to plan and prepare for events;
- Work with the Communications team to design and produce promotional and takeaway collateral; manage the bulk of online and offline outreach for events;
- Recruit, manage, and develop relationships with local event sponsors and vendors;
- Manage In-person and on-site events including troubleshooting;
- Support Growth team’s fundraising-related events, including the annual benefit and small donor-cultivation events.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this position must have:
- Deep commitment and fulfillment derived from working on a team;
- Meticulous by nature; excellent communication and time-management skills;
- Experience securing corporate sponsors for events;
- Experience marketing events for a variety of audiences and at a variety of ticket prices;
- Extreme comfort in cold calling; polite persistence;
- Experience managing a number of vendors, freelancers, and contractors at once;
- Demonstrated project management and budgeting experience;
- Basic graphic design skills;
- Respect and tact when working with new communities, ability to adapt and respond to context;
- Ability to customize events based on specific goals and outcomes;
- Ability to oversee continuity of brand and organizational identity;
- Able to experiment and thoughtfully evaluate one’s own work.
Exceptional candidates will also have:
- Experience managing production of events remotely;
- Experience using marketing automation products like Eloqua, Convio, Soapbox, or others to manage ticketing and marketing for events;
- Experience managing designers in a design process;
- Experience working on a distributed team;
- Experience working with a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion framework;
- Competency using all Adobe Creative Suite tools;
- Some experience in both fundraising and constituency-building events.
BENEFITS
ioby has offices New York City, Memphis, Cleveland, Detroit, DC or Pittsburgh, and location in one of these cities is preferable but not required. This position requires a large amount of travel. ioby’s regular business hours are 9-6pm Monday through Friday, but this job will require occasional work outside regular business hours. ioby is a startup: You’ll be expected to bring new ideas, strategies, revise your work on short timelines and bring an attitude of continuous improvement and a culture of innovation.
This full-time position has been funded for one year, and will be evaluated for renewal with the staff member. It is salaried, commensurate with experience, and includes a generous benefit package.
