Partnership for the Homeless Seeks Housing Specialist (NYC)

HOUSING SPECIALIST

The Partnership for the Homeless is looking for a creative, results-driven individual who understands the City’s broad housing market, and who is entrepreneurial in spirit, enjoys exciting challenges, and has experience in creating strong business relationships, especially with real estate owners and developers.

The Housing Specialist will develop and maintain relationships with landlords, brokers and property managers – with the goal of increasing access to quality, affordable housing. To that end, the Housing Specialist will inspect apartments, negotiate repairs and lease agreements, coordinate and accompany clients to apartment viewings, and explain details of rental subsidy and security deposit programs to clients and potential landlords.

The Housing Specialist will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team at the Partnership’s Family Resource Center in East New York, Brooklyn, which includes attorneys, social workers, community organizers, outreach workers, and health care advocates.

This is a unique opportunity to utilize business skills on behalf of the common good.

The successful candidate must feel aligned with the Partnership’s mission and values and appreciate the struggles of families experiencing homelessness and poverty.
