About Citi Bike:

Bicycle sharing is a convenient, flexible, healthy and fun transportation option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Citi Bike is headquartered in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and operates, Citi Bike, the nation’s largest bike share system. Citi Bike operates every aspect of the program, from repairing and rebalancing bikes, to maintaining the stations and docking points, to marketing the program and educating people about bike share. Citi Bike is in the midst of expansion and plans to grow from 6,000 to 12,000 bikes between now and the end of 2017.

NYC Bike Share’s parent company, Motivate Co., also oversees 9 additional bike share programs in Boston, DC, Chicago, Bay Area, Melbourne, Toronto, Chattanooga, Columbus, and (the newest addition) Seattle.

Overview of Position:

Citi Bike is seeking outgoing, high energy, sales-minded people to join our Citi Bike Squad as an Outreach Ambassador. As a Citi Bike Squad member, you will represent the Citi Bike brand and have the opportunity to meet new people, learn more about Citi Bike, sell Citi Bike day passes and memberships, all while sharing the fun and excitement of bike sharing with New Yorkers and visitors.

This is a temporary position, offering approximately 8-40 hours per week depending on your preference, availability and Citi Bike’s needs. Flexible scheduling; Outreach Ambassadors can provide their availability and the schedule will be created based on preference. Weekday and weekend shifts are available. Work beginning April through Fall 2016. In addition to the base pay of $15 per hour, Outreach Ambassadors will have opportunities for commission and bonuses.

Key Aspects of Position:

  • Represent the Citi Bike brand at assigned events and locations which could include Citi Bike stations, community events, Summer Streets, and other special events in New York City
  • Sell Citi Bike passes and memberships to New Yorkers and visitors
  • Collaborate with the Citi Bike marketing team to determine sales goals, and work to achieve those goals
  • Communication of success stories, key learnings, operations updates, and event recaps to marketing team
  • Educate customers about Citi Bike including the bike features, removal and return procedures for bikes, kiosk signup and pricing
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Outgoing and energetic
  • Know how to ride a bike
  • Have a smartphone and ability to add and utilize new applications
  • Team-player
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to speak a foreign language is a plus)
  • Ability to take direction and to learn basic facts about the Citi Bike system
  • Self-starter, able to work effectively and reliably with minimal supervision
  • Sales, marketing, or event experience is a plus
