Fourth Arts Block (FABnyc) is seeking applicants for Director of Programs.
The Director of Programs will facilitate and be responsible for executing existing programs, working with the Executive Director to design new programs and outreach surrounding various initiatives and collaborations. FABnyc is an integrated, creative work environment where new ideas, initiative, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks are appreciated and encouraged.
This position is full time, exempt with a salary for 2016 of $33,000/year. Medical insurance is available after a 90-day probation period. This position has potential for growth based on the interests and skills of the candidate. We value and understand that a candidate may choose to work on outside projects, as these experiences enrich the candidate’s perspective and network. However, the Director of Programs position must be the candidate’s first priority upon hiring. We encourage candidates to discuss their other projects in the interview if selected.
The candidate must:

Have strong written and verbal communication skills, and must be comfortable with a high level of public, social interaction with residents, artists and fellow administrators.

Have a minimum 2 years of related work experience, preferably with a small non-profit. Past professional experience in the arts is required. Past organizing experience in the LES is a plus but not required.

Be comfortable working with Microsoft Office and familiar with a variety of computer applications, especially on a Mac platform. A proven record of learning new software is preferred.

Have familiarity with skills required for basic bookkeeping.

Facility with Adobe Creative Suite or other design or video editing software is a plus.

Be outgoing, organized, and detail oriented and capable of managing several projects simultaneously.

Candidates should be excellent listeners and be willing to participate in strategic and creative conversations.

Be able to work in an intimate, creative work environment, in a small neighborhood storefront.

Have a genuine interest in community building and engagement. Spanish language skills a plus.
Duties include:

Scheduling, booking, studio maintenance, event coordination, and bookkeeping, for Dance Block Program.

Scheduling, setup and breakdown of Load OUT! events, including coordination of volunteers and artist workshops.

Maintaining an active presence during LES History Month (held annually in May), especially initiating and promoting FABnyc events/programs during the month.

Basic office management, i.e. ordering supplies, answering phone and fielding an eclectic array of questions and general office upkeep.

Providing support to Executive Director in grant writing, reports, fundraising, meetings, membership events and workshops.

Actively connecting with and responding to community members and organizations to foster partner programming and collaborations.

Maintaining and promoting neighborhood spirit and culture of care.

Advocating for the organization, the East 4th Street Cultural District and the LES when interfacing with the public.
