About:
Small, locally-owned businesses and artist spaces are being pushed out of the city’s neighborhoods by skyrocketing rents and land prices. In their place we find chain stores, bank branches, boutiques and high-priced bars, cafes and restaurants. Saving affordable retail spaces is critical to stopping the displacement of our neighborhoods. We also need alternatives. The panelists are active supporters of legislation and policy changes aimed at saving neighborhood businesses and cultural spaces.
