SumOfUs is hiring a Video Producer to help drive our social media membership and help bring our campaigns and stories to life. This position can be full-time or a bit less than full time (minimum 30 hours per week), based on the successful candidates’ preferences.

If you know how to tell vibrant stories; pluck engaging sound bytes from the news cycle and; and create viral content at a fast pace, then this is the role for you. Applications close on Friday, August 25.

You can work remotely from any timezone ranging between GMT+1 (Central European Time) to GMT-8 (Pacific Standard Time).

What you’ll do as part of our team

  • Lead SumOfUs’s video production work, from idea generation to execution;
  • Produce videos to serve SumOfUs’s worldwide campaign priorities; following the news cycle closely to lift up social media friendly moments to repurpose for our online audience;
  • Support campaigners to produce high quality videos that help us win campaigns, change the narrative around corporate power and engage our members.
  • Innovate and propose new ways of engaging social media to keep our social media content creation on the cutting edge;
  • Manage contracted videographers, editors, and motion graphics artists;
  • As needed, manage internal staff and contractors doing work related to video and multimedia;
  • Cultivate partnerships with external content creators (e.g. with producers at news outlets and non-profits that have a strong web video focus);
  • Develop and manage the organization’s multimedia archive.
  • Work with the Communications Director and the communications team to develop our social media strategy.

Skills and experiences you’ll need to bring

We have no formal education requirements – if you take on the role and are willing to grow with it, that’s all that matters. This role will require:

  • 2+ years in video and/or new media production and management;
  • Demonstrated storytelling instincts
  • Fluency in video editing software such as Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro, and motion graphics software like Adobe After Effects;
  • Basic knowledge of camera and sound equipment;
  • Comfortable in fast-moving work environments;
  • Dedicated to building a fairer and more sustainable global economy;
  • The ability to work  in diverse teams and across different cultural contexts;
  • Fluent in written and oral English;
  • Expertise directing, shooting, and editing professional videos; and
  • Ideas for how to improve SumOfUs’s social content production

Other skills that would be nice to have

Here’s a list of other skills that you might have. We know that no one can possibly have all these skills – you will likely be able to bring 2 or 3 of the following to our team:

  • A strong writer and communicator;
  • Great copywriting and proofreading abilities;
  • Experience tracking social media metrics
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or German  (native-level fluency is even better!);
  • Experience working closely with communities affected by corporate accountability issues — from Indigenous communities to low-wage workers;

Benefits

Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on a combination of experience and the country you live in (for some context: for qualified applicants, this position in New York will pay between  $56,000 and $80,000 plus 8% retirement fund contributions and in London will pay between £37,000 and £52,000, plus 8% retirement fund contributions).

This position will report to the Communications Director.
