Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking a Political Organizer to join our Public Affairs team. This Political Organizer is based at our Administrative Offices at 26 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012.

What the Political Organizer does:

– Supports the education and advocacy activities of Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) as well as the electoral activities of Planned Parenthood of New York City Action Fund and Planned Parenthood NYC Votes (PPNYC Votes)

– Assists in the coordination of administrative, organizing and electoral functions of the organization

– Supports the work of the PPNYC’s Public Affairs Department in the development of thorough background information on elected officials, coordinating lobbying activities, and tracking legislators’ voting records

– Expands electoral and advocacy work in the Bronx and works on community engagement across the Borough

We’re seeking candidates who have:

– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and success in community organizing, grassroots issue/policy advocacy campaigns, and/or electoral campaigns

– Requires one to two years of related and/or applicable organizing experience in political, social issues or electoral campaign settings plus a strong commitment to abortion access and full reproductive health care for all people, as well as a commitment to social, economic, and racial justice for all

– Some experience in policy research and electoral campaigning or social services (desired but not required)

– Current relationships with Bronx community organizations, elected officials, and/ or neighborhood leaders (desired but not required)

– Internet research skills and strong written and verbal skills
