ABOUT JOHN JAY COLLEGE
John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City
University of New York (CUNY) led by President Karol V. Mason, and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to Senior Director of Student Affairs in addition to the
general duties the Student Life manager will be required to :

Support the goals and objectives of CSIL within the needs of the
John Jay community, and provide excellent customer service to
students/faculty/staff.
Step in to serve as upper management role in their absence.
Manage and implement Student Commencement related events,
including but not limited to: Countdown to Commencement,
Commencement Brunch, Commencement Awards Ceremony, Grad
Salute Fair, Graduate Hooding Ceremony, and Commencement
Newsletter.
Supervise full-time staff, and college assistants, work-study.
Assist with implementation of student Orientations and other student events, including but not limited to: freshmen, transfer, graduate and international orientation; and Convocation.
Develop and implement leadership programming including NSLS,
the annual student leadership retreat as well as develop online programs to reach all John Jay students.
Assists in the overall planning, management and execution of
student co-curricular programming focused on leadership, diversity
and community building and will assume responsibility for one or more specific programs.
Create and implement programming and events for the department such as Lunch and Learns, Weeks of Welcome, and campus engagement opportunities.
Performs assessment and evaluation of departmental programming.
Assists in to develop a co-curricular transcript for students.
Oversee Student Council elections, including but not limited to:
petition pick-up, hiring of third-party inputters, verification of
candidates and signatures, working with DoIT with online voting site, and campaign workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and six years related experience required.

development opportunities

Represents the College in campus-wide and university-wide groups
and councils focusing on priority student issues

Manages staff, fiscal resources, and facilities supporting student
affairs activities

Performs related duties as assigned.
