We are looking to hire talented students for our Summer Internship Program who can help initiate our solution-based business model to the next level. As an intern at NJ Transit, you will oversee projects from concepts to completion. Our interns step away from the regular sitting at the desk to having the opportunity at hands-on experience with several other business units within NJ Transit. Our ideal candidate is passionate about learning and using creative solutions to make an impact on the lives of others every day.

Objective of this role:

• Responsible for assisting with transportation planning projects and may be assigned tasks with sole responsibility for their completion
• Assignments may include trans-Hudson alternatives development, bus design and research of best practices, station and intermodal planning, transit-oriented design, or bicycle studies and other support for active projects
• Possible opportunities to assist with engineering and design work for those with the interest and skills in these areas
• Work is expected to be remote with occasional office meetings or site visits possible depending on conditions

Skills and Qualifications:

• Working towards a degree in Urban/Transportation Planning or related field (Graduate Student)

• Knowledge of general planning processes and practices is necessary.
• Also required are excellent writing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Graphics and/or CAD experience are desirable but not required
• Other job responsibilities as required.
