About the Position

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action (CPD/CPDA) is seeking a full-time communications and digital campaigner who will work closely with CPD staff, local community organizations and the Local Progress Network to develop and implement the strategic communications and digital strategies as part of CPD/A’s Census Get Out the Count campaign to ensure full and fair participation in the 2020 Census. In partnership with the Director of Immigrant Justice, CPD/A’s communication team and our national allies, this position will create and execute messaging. Communications and rapid response plan to help influence positively the self response of individuals about the Census. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with communications and digital experience who wants to help advance immigrant rights and racial justice by working in partnership with grassroots organizations at the forefront of this fight to ensure that communities are empowered, represented and counted in our democracy. This position runs through July 2020 with possibility of extension.

Primary Responsibilities

Census Communications and Digital Campaigner will:

  • Work with Immigrant Justice and Democracy teams to develop communications and digital strategy and plan to support CPD/A’s census strategies and work.
  • Develop, support and execute CPD/A’s coordinate census messaging and communications and digital strategy for Census Get Out the Count
  • Lead CPD/A’s census digital outreach and Get Out the Vote effort throughout the CPD/A and Local Progress Networks and coordinate with national partners
  • Support targeted CPD/A affiliates and local coalitions in developing and executing GOTC communications work.
  • Work in partnership with immigrant rights groups inside the CPD/A network and nationally.
  • Coordinate and help execute rapid response and support mobilization as needed
  • Support the development and nurturing of CPD immigrant cohort and campaigns.

Job Requirements

  • A demonstrated commitment to social, racial and economic justice and a deep understanding of the challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low and moderate income families;
  • At least 2 years of digital and communications experience working with community, base-building organizations and/or advocacy organizations on civic engagement, issue organizing, field organizing, and/or member engagement;
  • Experience developing messaging and creating content with different platforms and social media strategies for campaigns.
  • Experience working with grassroots organizations and in diverse communities and demonstrated experience working with immigrant communities and immigrant justice organizations;
  • Knowledge of the census and civic engagement strategies strongly preferred;
  • Experience working across departments or teams within an organization;
  • Success as an independent, self-motivated leader with an ability to drive and manage complex projects to completion in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Results-focused and organized;
  • Willingness to travel regularly;
  • needs to be able to write and communicate both in Spanish and English

Salary and Benefits:

This is a union limited term position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale, which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $60,000-75,000 and category 2. The CBA is available here.
