The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Social Services Associate. The Social Services Associate will have the opportunity to work directly with low- and middle-income clients in need of public benefits and tax filing assistance, as well as with other staff on the implementation of various Social Services programs.
Organization History & Mission
The MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community. Since our founding, we have made a profound presence through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness. The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents.
Social Services Associate
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Conduct client screenings, intakes, and case assessments
- Coordinate and organize regular public benefit clinics and tax preparation clinics
- Prepare and submit public benefit applications on behalf of clients
- Prepare tax returns and applications for tax credits
- Manage routine client communications
- Prepare and conduct educational workshops for community members and partners
- Maintain detailed notes in case management system
- General administrative and clerical duties
Qualifications:
Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:
- English and Korean proficiency is required
- Interest, experience, and demonstrated commitment towards working on social justice issues in the context of the immigrant, Asian American or Korean American community
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be highly organized, to meet deadlines, to manage a high caseload, and take initiative on projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well both independently and in teams
- Ability and willingness to participate in occasional evening/weekend events
- Bachelor’s degree required

Community Health Navigator
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
-Conduct screenings, intakes, and case assessments, and provide ongoing case support to clients
-Coordinate regular health enrollment clinics.
-Provide in-person health insurance application and enrollment services through the NY State of Health, New York Health Plan Marketplace.
-Manage routine client communications, including assisting with complaints or questions regarding health coverage or an eligibility determination related to health coverage.
-Educate clients and the community about NY State of Health and the types of health insurance programs and plans offered through NY State of Health.
-Maintain documentation and records as required by program guidelines.
-Conduct outreach and build relationships with local community partners for enrollment and referral purposes.
-Attend regular trainings and calls with IPA/Navigator community partners.
-General administrative and clerical responsibilities.
Job Requirements
Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:

Development Director
The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and with other staff to plan, execute and implement a robust fundraising strategy for the organization. Specifically, the Development Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
>Develop, oversee and strengthen our organization’s long-term fundraising strategy, working closely with the Executive Director, Program leads, and Board;
>Set annual fundraising goals together with organization’s leadership, and meet goals through strong execution of development efforts;
>Prospect potential funding streams with a long-term relationship approach from all sources (foundation, major donor, individual, corporate, government), and develop new funding partnership opportunities;
>Lead and cultivate lasting relationships with donor prospects with leadership, program staff, and Board;
>Plan, execute, and implement annual fundraising events including the annual Gala, Spring Reception, Annual Appeal, and increase visibility and awareness of the MinKwon Center ‘s impact and mission;
>Develop, draft and edit funding proposals for our specific program areas as well as for general organizational support.
>Prepare, draft and edit grant reports to funders, and work with administrative and program staff to gather needed financial and programmatic information;
>Maintain detailed grants management database, records, and systems;
>Deepen relationships and communications with current and prospective program officers and funders.
Job Requirements
>3+ years experience in development and fundraising, or like position, with demonstrated success in increasing revenue and establishing strong relationships with funders and donors or clients;
>Interest, experience and demonstrated commitment to social justice especially on issues supporting immigrant communities.
>Ability to work closely and cordially with co-workers and allies;
>Excellent ability to communicate our mission, impact, growth trajectory, and programs;
>Understanding of Korean and Asian American communities preferred;
>Strong project management skills working in team environment;
>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage funder relationships;
>Ability to be highly organized, adapt to simultaneous timelines, and take initiative on projects with minimal supervision;
>Ability and willingness to participate in occasional evening/weekend events;
>Exceptional writing and communications skills.
