Custom Collaborative (CC) Seeks Development Assistant

Custom Collaborative (CC) is a US-based social enterprise and economic development non-profit that provides women from immigrant and low-income communities with skills, networks and capacities to build careers in the apparel industry as employees and business owners. Our mission is to empower and enrich women and their communities by preparing those facing high barriers to employment with skills to own, operate, and contribute to fashion and design businesses at a high economic, social, and environmental standard.

Role

The Development Assistant (DA) helps identify and secure financial support from foundations, individuals, and government agencies. The DA does this as follows:

Functions

  • Maintain CRM database and other development tools
    • adapt system and protocols as needed
    • create, record and maintain prospect lists, profiles, opportunities, strategies and deadlines within CRM system
    • perform data entry
  • Implement and help develop electronic media strategy
    • post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other platforms
    • create and organize content for electronic media
  • Conduct basic prospect research and support prospect development
    • research foundation, government and individual grant and gift opportunities (using web-based databases and other public sources)
    • analyze and present findings to colleagues
    • draft prospect profiles and briefings (templates provided)
    • support communications director in proposal writing
  • Coordinate development outreach and platform management
    • schedule meetings and facilitate electronic and print correspondence
    • create and manage electronic files

Qualifications

  • Experience with CRM systems and functions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills (English)
  • Fluency across Mac/PC
  • Working knowledge of web-based platforms and applications for project management
  • Time and task management skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to perform tasks to a high standard with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to engage a diverse range of people with interest and respect

     

Desired Characteristics

  • Fluency in language or language other than English
  • Experience in one or more of CC’s business-related areas (eg: fashion, vocational education, entrepreneurship, retail operations)
  • Enthusiasm for CC’s mission

Terms and Compensation

The Development Assistant is an hourly, part-time (10 – 12 hours weekly) position. Custom Collaborative subscribes to living wage principles.
