This position provides an opportunity to be involved in a Manhattan Chinatown community based organization to advocate for, educate, and organize immigrants on a variety of issues. The immigrant rights advocate will also interact with coalitions and community partners.
DUTIES
Assist clients to complete and citizenship, green card renewals, family based immigration applications
Conduct know your rights workshops for immigrants
Make referrals when needed
Attend meetings with organizational partners
Assist with organizing educational events
Maintain office records and assist with monthly and quarterly reporting tasks, as necessary.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience working with clients in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
Must work well independently.
Some availability on weekends and evenings
Preferred but not required: Experience working as an immigration paralegal or advocate
Strong understanding of Asian community and other communities of color preferred;
Demonstrated commitment to social justice issues and experience working in a non-profit or community setting
Bilingual in Chinese.
HOURS: 20-25 hours per week
