Class Size Matters is a NYC-based non-profit, non-partisan parent advocacy organization specializing in education policy and a clearinghouse for information on class size and the proven benefits of smaller classes. We advocate in NYC for class size reduction as a critical reform that improves outcomes for all students and narrows the achievement gap. We employ research, analysis, public advocacy and outreach to effect positive education change.
Job description: Class Size Matters seeks a paid research consultant available now to assist the Executive Director in researching and providing analysis on various education policy issues including class size reduction, school overcrowding, and student data privacy. In this capacity, the research associate will assist in fact checking, summarizing information from various sources, analyzing spreadsheet data, maintaining and updating the organization’s website, and drafting and sending out weekly newsletters. The research associate is also expected to occasionally attend and give presentations at education hearings and meetings within New York City, sometimes in the evening.
Job qualifications and requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, experience with Microsoft Excel, Office, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter; previous experience with a New York City non-profit organization preferred.
