POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Immigration & Civic Engagement Program Coordinator will support the Director of Immigration and Civic Engagement. The Immigration & Civic Engagement Program Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of projects related to Hispanic Federation’s immigration and civic engagement program. The position will provide natural opportunities to learn and will require the ability to remain flexible and adaptable in regard to work assignments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Immigration:
- Assist with the coordination of Hispanic Federation’s immigration programs, including program reports, site visits and program updates
- Refer individuals to member agencies for immigration services
- Review DACA scholarship applications
- Coordinate immigration town halls, citizenship drives, consultation days, community workshops, hotline initiatives, etc.
- Correspond with member agencies for collaboration with immigration activities
- Conduct outreach and recruit volunteers for upcoming immigration activities
Civic Engagement:
- Assist with coordination and implementation of voter registration and get-out-the-vote work plan
- Assist with tracking and reporting data and progress
- Conduct data entry
- Other organizing activities as needed
Other Responsibilities:
- Attend advocacy coalition meetings, town halls, voter registration events, immigration events and other Hispanic Federation events as needed
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a BA/BS degree and demonstrated interest in not-for-profit, immigration, or community organizing
- Strong ability to develop work plans, manage budgets, set deadlines, oversee multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and prioritize assignments
- Excellent, well-developed verbal and writing skills are essential
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills and a demonstrated commitment to Latino community are necessary
- Ideal applicants will be efficient, results-oriented with high energy and exhibit an exceptional ability to work with others
- Willingness to travel and work additional hours during the duration special projects
