People’s Action is an exciting and dynamic new organization formed by a merger of three powerful organizing groups – Alliance for a Just Society, National People’s Action and USAction. Through strategic issue campaigns, leadership development, direct action, grassroots and netroots action we engage everyday people and power organizations in more than thirty states in building an economy and a democracy that puts people and planet first.

Position
The Digital Organizer reports to the Digital Director and is responsible for social media management, email management, content creation, website maintenance, data management and digital campaigns in addition to co-managing the development, evaluation and reporting on People’s Action’s digital campaigns. This individual will work with the Digital and Communications Teams and across departments to engage and grow our national membership through creative online issue and electoral campaigns that complement our vibrant affiliate network and their on-the-ground organizing.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain People’s Action’s public presence through social media.
- Manage People’s Action’s email program, including organizing multi-organizational petitions.
- Build, edit and test emails, pages and templates.
- Monitor and report on data analytics and digital campaign results and utilize to evaluate and inform digital strategy.
- Work with Digital Director to maintain relationships with key vendors, developers and designers, and manage web hosting accounts, ensuring our domains and accounts are in good standing.
- Assist in content creation and provide quality control for all digital communications including email, social media and websites.
- As part of a team, develop and implement creative digital campaigns and strategies to drive People’s Action’s multi-issue national program
- Evaluate the latest online tools and emerging technologies and determine internal needs for new areas of expansion.
- Keep up on emerging digital trends and implement strategies, technologies, and best practices by regularly communicating with allies and digital professionals and attending conferences and trainings.
- Follow political news closely to craft relevant content for social media, web, and email campaigns
- Other special projects and duties as needed.
An ideal applicant would possess these qualifications
- Experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. Salsa, Nation Builder, Blue State Digital, etc.).
- Experience implementing an email advocacy program.
- Experience in field, online or political data management.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Extensive knowledge of social media platform particularly Facebook and Twitter.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.
- Exceptional background and work experience in online organizing – specifically email strategy, social media and other tactics for mobilizing supporters and fundraising.
- Detail-oriented, creative, flexible and willing to operate in a fast-paced environment across departments.
- The Digital Organizer will work from the in Washington DC office of People’s Action. Working from other offices will be considered.
- Commitment to social justice and familiarity with organizing and social movements.
You’re ahead of the curve if:
- You’re an expert with HTML, CSS, WordPress, etc.
- You have experience in data analytics, statistical analysis and/or designing A/B and/or multivariate experiments and interpreting and communicating the test data.
- You have experience in building blog and web pages.
- You have fundraising experience for election and/or issue campaigns.
- You are with Adobe CC tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- Video editing and production skill.
