Well-known tenant rights organization seeks a motivated Organizer to create tenant associations to fight harassment and displacement on the Lower East Side. Participate in city-wide housing campaigns to strengthen housing code enforcement, strengthen the rent laws and promote affordable housing.

Job Description

Job involves an ability to work with an energetic, supportive organizing team, requires door knocking, evening meetings, building consensus, having a good understanding of organizing principles and practices, and being committed to developing leadership in a multi-cultural community.

Qualifications

Applicant should have at least one year of organizing experience, some knowledge of NYC’s rent regulation system and interest in building the housing movement, good public speaking skills. College degree preferred, bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred but not required. Competitive salary and health benefits.
