Equal Exchange Seeks Payroll And Benefits Administrator

Job Description

Primarily responsible for processing payroll and assisting with benefits administration for all employees; also, other Finance Department responsibilities and projects as needed. This position is located in Canton, MA.

  • Employment Status: Full-time, regular, non-exempt position
  • Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Starting Salary: TBD + depending upon experience
  • Benefits: Health/dental/vision insurance coverage, vacations, holidays, sick days, eligibility for worker ownership
  • Department: Finance and Administration
  • Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Qualifications:

  • An interest in the mission of Equal Exchange
  • Experience with or interest in working for a cooperative organization preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Organization and time management skills critical
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Friendly manner; a team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer experience required
  • Experience with payroll processing, ADP WorkForce Now and ezLaborManager a plus
  • Experience in benefits administration a plus

Responsibilities:  

Primary:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain information in HRIS, using ADP WorkForce Now and ezLaborManager
  • Create and maintain personnel files
  • Keep current worksheets that summarize employee census information
  • Process insurance and 401(k) paperwork for new hires, terminations, enrollment periods, or employees with a status change
  • Complete requests from insurance and 401(k) companies for periodic census information
  • Review insurance invoices and approve for payment
  • Maintain required records for Section 125 benefit

Secondary:

  • Other job-related responsibilities and projects as needed by the Finance Department

Personnel & Worker Ownership/Fair Trade Development)

  • Participate in staff, team, department, and educational (Exchange Time) meetings.
  • Understand our producer partners, trading policies, and the Fair Trade movement.
  • Understand and participate effectively in our worker cooperative model.
