The Center Seeks Opportunities Coordinator, Immigrants

The Center is seeking an Opportunities Coordinator for immigrants responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and delivery of the spectrum of leadership, celebration and opportunity services for LGBT immigrants offered by The Center. These services seek to improve economic and educational attainment and socio economic status including access to education, jobs and housing.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, produce and provide management for all aspects of The Center’s leadership, celebration and opportunity services for LGBT immigrants, including all internal and external programming.
  • Identify, develop and manage relationships with various partners with specializations in independent employment, economics and education and career readiness to bring a diverse group of LGBT immigrants to The Center.
  • Develop and maintain an annual calendar of employment, career readiness, workforce development, mentoring, networking, life skills, leadership training, legal and employer spotlight events, including but not limited to the current social action group, annual holiday party, annual fair and cultural event, as well as measurable goals which prioritize partnerships that draw a diverse group of LGBT immigrants to The Center.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, manage and mentor volunteers, volunteer committees and temporary event staff and, where applicable, employee resource groups (ERGs) for programming for LGBT immigrants.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, manage and mentor an LGBT immigrant community advisory board (CAB).
  • Meet specific goals and targets, maintain program evaluation metrics and deliver reports accordingly.
  • Provide care management that facilitates, coordinates and documents participant-centered care for participants across Center teams and departments to better address multiple and co-occurring concerns.
  • Supervise intern placements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a human service, business or related field preferred; Master’s a plus.
  • Significant previous experience and demonstrated ability and aptitude in working with immigrants, employment, job and career development.
  • Strong, demonstrated experience and skills in program development, project management, event production, volunteer/staff supervision, community organizing and outreach.
  • Excellent leadership, administrative, organization, and written/verbal communication skills; bilingual a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Strong commitment to inclusive, multi-cultural programming; prior experience working with diverse communities.
  • A flexible, creative, assertive, self-starter a must.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues, needs and interests of LGBT youth,adults, families and community, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity and transgender issues.
  • Experience working effectively in coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of the inter-sectionalists of oppressions.
  • A strong commitment to social justice and the mission of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.
