Greetings in this post election season where we can begin to experience hope for our shared values translating to public policy and programs. In the video below Rebecca Lurie found herself being asked for an interview by a Chinese student in Bryant Park
after class on Election Day! This was at the very hour the announcement was coming through and the excitement was palpable. Her answers feature the hope of solidarity and care that Mayor-elect Mamdani espouses. And she got to say, “come study this here! At SLU!”

Also here, you can see the report with recommendations CWOP was part of creating along with other food justice advocates, led by Community Food Advocates. As municipal grocery stores will help to solve the urgent need for food access, we go on to describe how an intentional and municipally supported initiative for food co-ops can increase access points for food and community engagement and bring more affordable and healthy food to more neighborhoods in our city.
And then, our dear colleague Yvonne Yen Liu, with the Solidarity Research Center writes in Non-Profit Quarterly Will Mamdani’s Victory Advance a Solidarity Economy in New York City? We can all ask and contribute to the process of more solidarity in community and our city every way we can.
