Director of Land Use and Planning for New York City Council District 38 Seeks Research Assistant (P/T)

The Director of Land Use and Planning for New York City Council District 38 (Red Hook/Sunset Park) is seeking a self-motivated, independent research assistant to do quantitative and qualitative research into several urban planning and economic development issues. The research will require engaging with land use documents;
demographic, housing, and employment data sets; and developing research methodologies for complex neighborhood change questions. While the researcher will have regular contact with the Director, the researcher is expected to work independently. If preferred, the researcher can work remotely.

Job Description
The research assistant will develop and carry out a research plan in coordination with the Director of Land Use. The assistant will meet regularly with their supervisor to review findings and make modifications to the research scope as necessary. A final written report of research and findings is due by the end of the term.

Work Term: May-August 2019
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Rate: $20/hour
Final deliverable due: August 15, 2019

Qualifications:
 Quantitative and qualitative research experience
 Urban planning education or professional experience
 Excellent writing skills
 Excellent graphic representation skills
