Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization serving nearly 10,000 residents a year through a comprehensive array of housing preservation, economic development, community organizing and youth and family support services programs and project. Position: Equitable Development Data Manager
CHLDC has an opening for one (1) part-time Data Manager to support our housing and business displacement prevention efforts. This position is hourly for 20 hours per week and will report to the Director of Evaluation & Research. This position will be a part of a team that aims to get ahead of and combat displacement of low-income residents and other vulnerable populations in East New York, Brooklyn by enlisting residents, merchants, manufacturers, houses of worship, schools and other community-based organizations in a neighborhood-wide campaign to track and visualize pertinent data.
Principal Duties:
- Support home ownership, rental assistance, community organizing and community development programs by creating reporting tools and data management essential to assessing program operations and effectiveness.
- Prepare data visualization products to transform data into actionable insights
- Use qualitative and quantitative social science research methods to assess program performance to provide the process and outcome evaluation findings needed to develop, improve, and ultimately reach key program goals. Goals include designing a holistic approach to displacement prevention that would encompass outreach and education, direct services and policy work.
- Provide database users technical support and customer service as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Student or degree holder in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy or related field.
- Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
- Familiarity with existing housing, income, and other socioeconomic data sources
- Experience working with data and understanding of relational databases
- Superior organizational and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or other graphic design software
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and software and GIS mapping
