Cooperatives United for Sunset Park Seeks Office Manager, Part Time (Brooklyn, NY)

Cooperatives United of Sunset Park (CUSP) is a network of worker owned cooperative businesses in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. We believe in the principle of cooperation among cooperatives and since 2013 we have come together to strengthen our individual cooperatives, share our experiences as worker owners, and seek shared benefits for our members and our cooperatives.

Our mission is to promote the cooperative movement by supporting the growth and development of existing and new co-ops in the Sunset Park area and throughout NYC.
CUSP is looking for a part time office manager who can provide customer service for three cooperative businesses that were incubated and launched in the last nine years with the help of The Center for Family Life. The cooperatives are:

● Golden Steps Eldercare Cooperative, 2011, 14 members
● Trusty Amigos Dog walking and Pet Care Cooperative, 2014, 7 members
● Sunset Scholars Tutoring Cooperative, 2015, 14 members

Responsibilities will include:
● Serve as the back office coordinator for worker cooperative businesses in industries including home care, tutoring and dog walking.
● Maintain member and clients records, answering customer calls and emails and matching members with jobs within allotted times.
● Develop client and business reports for the worker coops on an ongoing basis.
● Send client invoices, track payments, support with administration of payments to members.
● Support with general back office administration.
● Work in a sales capacity, converting client inquiries into secured jobs.
● Meeting with and reporting to Office Committee of CUSP.
● Onboarding and training new cooperative members, including support with resume preparation, introduction to cooperative contracts, and job roster.

Qualifications:
● B.A. degree preferred.
● Customer service experience is preferred.
● Must be a strong verbal and written communicator in English and Spanish.
● Experience with media, and communications messaging a plus.
● A strong interest/background in worker/immigrant rights
● Good organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing;
● Basic computer skills including work with Microsoft Office, and e-mail at a proficient level;
● Ability to learn quickly and be interested in developing a variety of new skills; be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; have the ability to work both autonomously and in a team;
● Ability to effectively engage with cooperative members and customers;
● Entrepreneurial/Business skills a plus.
