Bronx Community Board 6 is looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students to serve as interns for Summer 2018. Interns will be expected to work 3 – 4 days and 20 – 25 hours each week beginning in June. Interns are strongly urged to seek funding and/or academic credit from their school. Preference will be given to students able to receive funding and/or academic credit. There will be limited (2-3) paid positions available as well, however.
The community board planning internship is suited for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to lead public service initiatives in an underserved community. You will learn much more here than in a typical government office and given greater responsibility. Bronx Community Board 6 has several iconic locations such as Arthur Ave., the Bronx Zoo, The Botanical Garden, Fordham University, and the East Tremont commercial strip. Interns will work directly with the District Manager and assist with city agency interaction, local business outreach, elected official outreach, the planning of community events, legislative research and help organize district budget requests.
