St Nicks Alliance is seeking a Senior Community Organizer to provide leadership to a team of community organizers, community leaders and volunteers responsible for environmental justice, anti-displacement and affordable housing and community planning campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of community organizers, interns and volunteers working on housing and environmental justice issues in North Brooklyn
- Provide leadership in the development of St Nicks Alliance’s community organizing capacity
- Provide leadership developing and implementing a plan to outreach, train and engage North Brooklyn residents into affordable housing and antidisplacement and environmental justice issues campaigns
- Provide leadership strengthening our grassroots community organizing efforts around affordable housing and anti-displacement
- Assist with the design, outreach and implementation of a leadership development process to build the capacity of community leaders and members
- Provide leadership facilitating the development and implementation of local and city wide community organizing campaigns, especially that target problem landlords, lenders and policies that contribute to deteriorating housing conditions
- Assist in writing reports to current funders and assist with grant development
Qualifications/Requirements
- Candidate must be fluently bilingual (English-Spanish).
- Minimum of one year of supervising experience, ideally supervising a community organizer
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience with community organizing, mobilizing and campaign development.
- Demonstrated experience with leadership development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends (as necessary).
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills; strong public speaking skills.
