Our Mission

CGDCNY is a non-profit community organization aimed at empowering Southwest Yonkers through technology, urban planning, and community leadership development. We believe that in order for community development to be successful, it must be driven by, and serve the interests of the local community. Through conducting needs assessments and facilitating community dialogue, CGDCNY creates comprehensive neighborhood plans, and helps to organize community members to put those plans into action.

The Position: Community Organizer (PT)

Our Community Organizer will work under the direction of our Executive Director and Neighborhood Planning Committee. Our Community Organizer will be responsible for leading our community outreach & base building strategy which includes the collection of data for our needs assessment, developing campaigns, building relationships with community members and local leaders, and conducting leadership training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordinating outreach
  • Organizing meetings, focus groups, forums, and events
  • Database Management
  • Workshop Facilitation

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have fluency in Spanish (required)
  • Strong organizational & interpersonal skills
  • Experience with community organizing
