CIVITAS Seeks Esplanade Project Manager (NYC)

CIVITAS is an Upper East Side and East Harlem community-based planning non-profit organization that since 1981 has worked to improve the urban environment, advocating for better land use, zoning and urban transportation, clean air and water, improved recycling and public access to the waterfront. CIVITAS commissions urban planning studies, speaks out at public hearings, issues reports and keeps its members informed on current issues impacting on urban life.

Starting with its “Reimagining the Waterfront” design competition in 2011, CIVITAS set out to improve the deteriorated East River Esplanade. Since that time, CIVITAS has produced a comprehensive vision plan, successfully advocated for the designation of capital funds, and conducted numerous community visioning sessions in order to implement improvements along discrete portions of the Esplanade. In addition, CIVITAS has embarked on a three-year environmental uplift experiment with the New York Harbor School.
