Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness Seeks Paid Intern (NYC)

The Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness (ICPH) is an independent policy research organization based in New York City. Established in 1990, ICPH works to provide timely analysis and recommendations to enhance the public policy debate on issues of poverty and homelessness. ICPH is seeking ambitious graduate students to work with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts on policy issues affecting poor and homeless children and their families. The Policy Analyst Intern will be responsible for analyzing both survey and administrative data and the documenting the findings in a variety of forms including but not limited to charts, tables, graphs, maps, info-graphics, fact sheets, briefs, blogs, and reports.  In select cases there may also be an opportunity to assist ICPH’s External Affairs Department with the on-line and/or on-air reporting of findings.

Requirements

  • BA and/or graduate work in the social sciences, humanities or public affairs.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver.
  • Demonstrated foundational skills with STATA, SPSS and Excel.
  • Mac experience preferred.
  • GIS skills a plus.

Positions available for full-time summer work.  Interns must be available to work 14 to 21 hours per week.  Positions will be paid at $17 to $20 per hour depending on experience.
