Partnering with families to create prosperous lives and healthy communities
The Partnership for the Homeless has an immediate opening for a creative and experienced professional who sees the problem of family homelessness through a social justice lens. The Director will lead and expand the Partnership’s flagship community initiative, the Family Resource Center in East New York, Brooklyn, and play a significant role in New York City and beyond in advancing solutions to prevent urban family homelessness.
The Director will be a key member of the Partnership’s management team and, working with the Director of Research, take a central role in fulfilling the Family Resource Center’s intended purpose as an incubator for the development of scalable, evidence-based best practice models – and as a place to identify and address the systemic and structural factors that push families into homelessness.
With a multi-disciplinary staff, the Director will also have the opportunity to create new programs, develop community-based consortiums, and participate in advocacy efforts that are designed to address the systemic barriers to family stability.
The successful candidate will have experience that combines social service and advocacy and an activist’s understanding of the impact of systemic issues on the lives of at-risk families and communities, strong leadership and staff development skills, a relevant graduate degree, and demonstrated success in program development. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
The Partnership for the Homeless is a 30 year-old nationally recognized advocacy and direct service organization working to end homelessness in New York City. Using a community-based approach that integrates advocacy, research and direct services, the organization is working to identify and address those systems and structures that keep communities entrenched in poverty and homelessness
