The Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center (CDP) seeks a Development Coordinator to help administer government funding contracts for legal services. This position will be responsible for ensuring timely reporting, invoicing and compliance for CDP’s government contracts, and will also assist with general development and fundraising efforts such as individual giving, fundraising events and communications/public relations.
Background
The Community Development Project provides legal, participatory research and policy support to strengthen the work of grassroots and community-based groups in New York City to dismantle racial, economic and social oppression. We partner with community organizations to win legal cases, publish community-driven research reports, assist with the formation of new organizations and cooperatives and provide technical and transactional assistance in support of their work towards social justice. - 1-2 years government contract management experience a big plus, though not required
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once

- Interest in, experience with and/or commitment to grassroots efforts working towards social justice
- Prepare and submit timely reports to funders
- Maintain accurate and updated records of contract statuses
- Review, assign funding sources to and oversee database input of client intake information
- Input CDP client and case information into external databases required by specific funders
- Manage funder site visits and audits
- Regularly communicate contract requirements and updates to CDP staff and community partners with whom CDP has joint funding to ensure contract requirements are met
- Regularly check in and follow up with community partners who are subcontractors on CDP grants
- Prepare and submit regular invoices to funders
- Review and process invoices from subcontractors
- Assist with CDP communication efforts, including posting website updates, sending newsletters and appeals, and posting to social media
- Assist with CDP’s individual and event-based giving efforts
- Attend regular CDP Development Team meetings
- Participate on CDP committees and in overall CDP governance and operation
