SALARY: $16.09-$19.95 per hour

Community Board 11 (CB11) is a City of New York government agency, covering the neighborhood of East Harlem, an area between 96th to 142nd
Streets, from the east side of Fifth Avenue to the East River, including Randall’s and Ward’s Islands and Marcus Garvey Park. Through its 50 member volunteer board and City paid staff, CB11 engages in various outreach activities and advocates for resident and business needs of the community of East Harlem. CB11 has an important role in initiating and reviewing planning, land use and zoning matters, the City budget, municipal service delivery and many other advocacy matters relating to the welfare of East Harlem. CB11 hosts a monthly Full Board meeting, and a number of monthly committee meetings covering a range of important community issues.
Position: Under the supervision of the District Manager, the Community Assistant will provide general administrative and operational support for the work of the Board office and assistance with the required publicity, outreach and marketing of the work, positions, events and initiatives of CB11.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and clerical support including, but not limited to, filing, scheduling, as well as answering and directing calls
Assist constituents with initial intake and handle public inquiries, phone calls, and emails.
Greet constituents and visitors
Assist with preparation for community board meetings and administer meeting reminders
Assist with community engagement and outreach
Support updates and maintenance of content on Community Board 11 website
Draft letters and correspondence, as needed
Develop and manage Board social media accounts
Attend evening Board and Community meetings
Compile events, information and interviews for scheduled community announcements and newsletters

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Baccalaureate Degree
- Two (2) years relevant administrative experience
- Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, organized and self -motivated
- Information management /computer skills: including proficiency in MS Office and Google Docs applications.
- Proficiency and creativity with social media platforms
- Interest in or familiarity with the East Harlem community
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
