Happy Anniversary to the Labor Movement — and to Us!

May Day is well-known as International Workers Day — and so, naturally, holds a special place in the hearts of all of us at the Murphy Institute. This year, New York City saw a flurry of activity — including a protest at Union Square, the 5th Annual Immigrant Workers Justice Tour, a fabulous celebration at Bushwick’s Mayday Space, and much, much more. Folks who wanted to make a weekend of it were spotted at, among other places, Liberation Lab! or Verso Books — or here, at the Murphy Institute, for Organizing 2.0.

May Day also marks another holiday: the anniversary of our blog! Over the past two years, we’ve featured first-rate commentary, posted lots of jobs, maintained an events calendar, and grown into an increasingly relevant source of news and information for the labor, urban studies and social justice communities of New York City.

We look forward to continuing to grow with you!
