Common Cause New York Seeks Part-Time Facilitator and Researcher

Common Cause/NY is going to be hiring a part-time Facilitator and Researcher for our NYCommons project. Graphic design and mapping skills are highly desired and candidates must be able to work between 2 and 3 days a week from April through July 2016. Pay will be $15/hr and the position starts ASAP.

NYCommons a collaborative project that is the result of joint efforts by Common Cause New York, the Community Development Project (CPD) at the Urban Justice Center, and 596 Acres, Inc. The position will be located in the New York City office of Common Cause, the lead organization in facilitating neighborhood pilot workshops that aim to spotlight the means as well as challenges facing community groups working on issues around publicly owned assets and effective land use processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Facilitator and Researcher will support researching and creating materials for workshops, communicating with neighborhood partners and stakeholders, and facilitating the workshops themselves.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Facilitator and Researcher will be exposed to a variety of public land use and government reform issues at the state, city and community levels, while gaining a wide range of experiences within a small office setting. Candidates must be available to work between 2 to 3 days a week in April and May and 3 days a week in June and July.

QUALIFICATIONS:                  

The preferred candidate will have studied at the graduate level or have completed advanced coursework, be familiar with land use regulations within NYC, skills in ArcGIS/QGIS, able to use Excel for statistics and is comfortable with the Adobe suite for graphic design.
