CEANYC Seeks Part-time Temporary Event and Communications Manager (NYC)

The Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City is looking for a part-time temporary Event and Communications Manager to join us this spring! The manager will work remotely 10 hours each week from February 22 through May 1, with flexibility around start and end dates, and will meet with leaders and volunteers as needed each week in downtown/Park Slope Brooklyn. The manager will be responsible for producing and publicizing our first annual members meeting.

The Cooperative Economics Alliance of New York City (CEANYC) aims to strengthen and expand community-led, democratically-controlled initiatives — from worker, financial and consumer co-ops to community land trusts and gardens, mutual housing, and low-income housing co-ops. Our goal is to build an economy based on values of social and racial justice, ecological sustainability, cooperation, mutualism, and democracy.

We seek someone who is reliable, creative, and flexible and who has a strong aptitude for project management and working with diverse stakeholders in community settings. Our ideal manager has excellent written and verbal English skills and at least two years of event production and communications management experience. Bi-lingual Spanish a plus. Working knowledge of CiviCRM, Twitter, Facebook, WordPress, Instagram, Google Drive, Google Hangout, and Skype strongly preferred. Interest and experience in cooperatives, solidarity economics, or democratic community organizations is ideal.

Manager duties will include:

  • Coordinate event and routine online communications (WordPress, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Database management and internal recordkeeping in coordination with data team
  • Coordination and support of conferences and events
  • Act as primary liaison for venue, caterers, and other vendors
  • Create and manage event production schedule and volunteers
  • Track and manage RSVPs and outreach communication with outreach team
  • Oversee budget creation, tracking, and payment processing with operations team

CEANYC is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to engaging the skills and leadership of people of color, working-class and low-income persons, LGBTQ persons, differently-abled people, and other people from diverse backgrounds. People from these and other traditionally marginalized backgrounds and communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

The manager must be based in NYC. This is an independent contract position to be paid at $20/hour. The manager will report to our steering committee and outreach team.

Applications will be accepted until February 8, or until the position is filled. Please submit a cover letter and resume to organize@gocoopnyc.com, with the subject Event and Communications Manager. Questions can be directed to organize@gocoopnyc.com.
