The East Village Community Coalition, a locally based non-profit working to preserve and expand local small business, and to preserve and support the architectural and cultural character of the East Village, seeks an Executive Director to administer and grow our non-profit.
In partnership with the EVCC Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the management of the annual budget, day-to-day administration of the organization, program development, and fundraising activities. The Executive Director will act as the primary organizer for community outreach and advocacy, communications and publicity, fundraising and fiscal management. The Executive Director will lead advocacy efforts in small business retention and expansion, historic preservation, and zoning.
Responsibilities: • Plan and implement organization’s ongoing campaigns • Support the Board of Directors on all major fundraising initiatives • Manage organizational communication including email blasts, website content, and media materials • Identify and support volunteers/interns • Supervise bookkeeping and accounting practices and consultants • Develop a financial plan for the organization, including a donor tracking system and annual giving campaign. • Nurture relationships with local elected officials and their staff members • Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the organization to the Board of Directors
Qualifications: • 2+ years of professional experience in a nonprofit administration and program planning • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical organizational initiatives • Ability to work independently without close oversight ▪ Ability to recruit and manage volunteers • Intimate knowledge of the East Village and Lower East Side neighborhoods would be a distinct advantage • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred
