Warehouse Workers for Justice (WWJ) leads the fight for good, living wage jobs among the thousands of transportation and logistics workers in the Chicago area, the largest intermodal logistics hub on the planet. The campaign blends union and worker’ center models, focuses on long-term leadership development, alliances with community organizations, and development of innovative organizing tactics.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct worker outreach efforts
• Lead one-on-one and group meetings with workers
• Identify and develop workplace leaders
• Motivate workers to take action
• Build worker committees
• Develop and carry out strategies to achieve workplace victories
• Lead labor rights trainings
• Maintain accurate information on worksites and campaign activities
• Gather information necessary for enforcement of labor laws
• Build community support for warehouse workers’ struggles

Requirements:

• Previous worker organizing experience
• Ability to make and execute a workplan
• Ability to work independently
• Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends
• A working vehicle and a valid drivers’ license
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
• Basic computer and writing skills
• A strong commitment to social justice
