Non-Teaching Adjunct/International Education Specialist

Description: CUNY’s Central Office of Academic Affairs is seeking a part-time International Education Specialist to provide a range of services to support the Office of Academic Affairs’ oversight of study abroad programming in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel, Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management, University Registrar, Bursar’s Office, and various other University entities. This position requires excellent communication with University offices as well as with the colleges that directly administer study abroad programs. In addition to supporting study abroad, the International Education Specialist will support broader internationalization initiatives. The responsibilities are varied and range from database management to screening of agreements and proposals to event planning.
The position is based at the CUNY Central Office on 42nd Street and Third Avenue.

Responsibilities:
- Review international agreements and coordinate with the Office of General Counsel to recommend for approval by the Board of Trustees.
- Review study abroad program proposals and coordinate with the Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management for Central Office approval.
- Management of international travel tracking database system (Terra Dotta).
- Communicate with and provide continuous training to campuses on Terra Dotta, including training module development.
- Work closely with CUNY’s Computing and Information Services team on maintenance of Terra Dotta software and towards its integration with CUNY’s student information system (CUNYFirst).
- Manipulate and analyze data.
- Draft reports using quantitative and qualitative sources.
- Event organization.
- Maintain study abroad website.
- Update social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); cultivate new methods of promotion and outreach.
- Other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree in progress or relevant professional experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Personable and engaging, comfortable working with staff and faculty in other University units and at the colleges.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Event planning experience.
- Proficient with business software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and social media. Terra Dotta experience preferred but will train candidates with strong database management backgrounds.
- Proficiency in statistical software; SPSS preferred. R and/or Stata beneficial.
- Familiarity with database structure and tools (e.g. SQL).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to sift through complex information and provide concise summaries.
Hours and Compensation:
Approximately 14 hours per week.
CUNY Non-Teaching Adjunct (NTA) pay scale: $38.91—$48.41 per hour.
