PONCE BANK INTERN WORK ASSIGNMENT

Position: Floating Intern (Ponce Banker)

Reports to: Banking Operations Manager

Location: Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Manhattan and Union City, NJ

Hours: Part-Time or Full-Time within Branch Business operation hours: Monday – Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm & Saturday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our customers, partners and prospects. Tailors solutions and offers recommendations to fulfill customer needs. Responsible for processing all paying and receiving transactions, and perform cash vault activities, in an accurate and timely manner. Understands and complies with internal policies and procedures and all required regulatory procedures. Supports the branch and banks business development plan and growth goals.

Essential Functions:
1. Proactively engages and greets the customers as they walk into the branch and provide one-stop customer service experience.
2. Delivers exceptional customer service by identifying customer needs, tailor solutions, make offers appropriate bank products and recommendations.
3. Responds to customer inquiries, (in person, by phone, mail or email) and takes ownership while acting as the bank’s liaison between other departments and bank personnel. Understands customer needs, follows up, and assures customer satisfaction.
4. On boards customers and opens new accounts, completing all documentation related and adhering to our policy and regulatory requirements.
5. Completes monetary and negotiable instrument transactions using traditional and alternative channels such as smart ATM’s, TCRs or traditional teller stations.
6. Coordinates with other departments, cultivating partnerships, in order to obtain and provide appropriate referrals.
7. Complies with all internal policies and regulatory requirements (Bank Secrecy Act, etc.)

Skills:
• Clearly communicates in English, Bilingual is helpful
• Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills
• Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
• General knowledge of retail banking procedures and regulations
• Knowledge of banking regulations
• Moderate PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Self-motivated with a demonstrated aptitude and desires for sales
• Comfortable with technology: Smartphone, Online Banking, Remote Desktop Capture, ATM etc.

TAKEROOT JUSTICE OPPORTUNITY FOR A SUPERVISING ATTORNEY

TRANSACTIONAL SUPERVISING ATTORNEY CAPACITY BUILDING PRACTICE AREA

Position Summary:

TakeRoot Justice’s Capacity Building Practice provides legal advice and assistance to: (i) groups of workers establishing worker-owned cooperative businesses and established workerowned cooperative businesses in connection with incorporation, governance and other
matters; (ii) small businesses in connection with commercial lease review and negotiations; and (iii) grassroots organizations, including nonprofits and unincorporated associations, in connection with incorporation, tax exemption and compliance with corporate, employment, tax and other laws. We provide creative technical assistance and legal solutions as we work toward the equitable control of resources through cooperative and other non-exploitative
institutions, with a particular focus on Indigenous, Black and Brown communities that have been historically exploited and marginalized.

TakeRoot seeks applicants for the position of Supervising Attorney in our Capacity Building practice, which currently includes one staff attorney. The Supervising Attorney will collaborate and provide mentorship as appropriate to the staff attorney, as well as interns and fellows.

The position offers a unique opportunity to practice in several innovative areas of the law while building relationships with local community organizers, leaders and service providers. The Supervising Attorney reports to the Executive Director of TakeRoot.

Practice Area Responsibilities:

• Represent start-up worker cooperatives on entity choice, assist in entity formation and draft governance documents;
• Represent existing worker cooperatives on contract, employment, intellectual property and other matters;
• Represent small businesses in commercial lease review and negotiations;
• Represent community-based organizations in entity formation, governance, tax exemption applications and compliance matters;
• Conduct workshops and trainings for community-based organizations and their members; and
• Advocate to legislative bodies and agencies in partnership with community-based organizations and their members regarding issues related to worker cooperatives, other small businesses and nonprofits at the city and state level.

Supervisory and Management Responsibilities:

• Train, supervise and mentor attorneys and interns to ensure professional development and competency in work being performed;
• Engage in periodic meetings with staff and volunteers to monitor workload, review their projects, and provide guidance as needed;
• Collaborate with the Director and staff of the practice area to develop and implement strategic planning for the practice area;
• Comply with all grant reporting requirements and supporting development department to ensure ongoing funding for the work; and
• Participate in management of TakeRoot together with other managers and the Director.

TakeRoot Responsibilities:

As an organization committed to democratic participation and decision-making, all staff:

• Support the growth of TakeRoot on other substantive and administrative projects, including participating in at least one internal governance committee;
• Cultivate relationships with current and potential funders; and
• Comply with all grant-reporting requirements.

Qualifications/Skills:

Required:
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience;
• Admission to the New York State Bar;
• Demonstrated commitment to grassroots efforts for economic, racial and social justice;
• Strong writing and analytical skills;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations; and
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff in shaping and running the practice.

Strongly Preferred:
• Experience supervising a team of attorneys and non-attorneys;
• Fluency in two (2) or more languages, including Spanish; and
• Experience working with social justice and/or community organizing groups.

Timeline and Compensation/Benefits:

The anticipated start date for this position is November 2020, with the possibility of an earlier start date.

TakeRoot’s staff are on a fixed salary scale, and the salary for this position will be determined based on years of relevant experience in accordance with the scale.

BARUCH COLLEGE STARR CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER POSITION FOR A JOB DEVELOPER

STARR SERVICES FOR SENIORS AND RECENT GRADUATES INITIATIVE

JOB DEVELOPER POSITION DUTIES:

The Job Developer is primarily responsible for identifying and building relationships with new employer leads; specifically cultivating relationships with organizations that historically have had little or no interaction with the career center and/or experience with hiring our students and graduates.  The Job Developer is responsible for identifying and engaging with emerging business sectors to foster ongoing recruitment relationships and connect these entities with the appropriate resources and personnel at the career center and the college. The primary target of the job developer is to identify leads for seniors and recent graduates.

The Job Developer reviews and researches businesses to ensure employers are credible and remain in compliance with Federal and NACE policies.  Additionally, the Job Developer may provide administrative support during Job Search Boot Camps, Career Fairs, information sessions and other employer/alumni events.  Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Field questions from new employer contacts
  • Help review and process new employer accounts
  • Collaborate with Starr Services for Seniors and Recent Graduates Initiative team to communicate opportunities to staff and students
  • Follow up with new contacts who require additional guidance and support
  • Support the employer relations team by promptly responding to general employer inquires
  • Assist with employer events such as virtual information sessions, industry panels, On-Campus Recruiting
  • Respond to general student inquires: Why can’t I apply for this position? I have an interview coming up, how can I enhance my candidacy, etc.
  • Help input hiring outcomes/update student records with data collected from employers

 

The Job Developer works with Employer Relations Team and Starr Services for Seniors and Recent Graduates Initiative Team.

This is a grant funded, temporary position without benefits with an hourly rate of $15.61.  The schedule is 40 hours per week with a one hour unpaid lunch daily.

WGAE Business Agent Job Description

 

Summary:

The WGAE Business Agent is responsible for enforcing the collective bargaining agreement at the Business Agent’s assigned broadcast or digital shops.  The Business Agent will work closely with other Guild staff, including Field Representatives and Business Agents, and will report directly to the General Counsel.

 

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent and professional communication at all assigned broadcast and digital shops to retain knowledge of daily activities
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with management representatives at all assigned shops
  • Evaluate possible violations of the collective bargaining agreements through interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement
  • File grievances as per the collective bargaining agreements in consultation with the General Counsel
  • Drafting, filing, preparation and administration of arbitrations and/or unfair labor practices in consultation with the General Counsel
  • Negotiate shop collective bargaining agreements including first contracts
  • Prepare, attend and/or participate in Labor Management Committee meetings at all assigned shops
  • Prepare, attend and/or participate in Diversity Committee meetings at all assigned shops
  • Prepare, attend and/or participate in other shop-wide meetings at all assigned shops
  • Guide shop members through any disciplinary proceedings including but not limited to Weingarten meetings and PIPs
  • Guide shop members through other employment concerns, such as unemployment, health insurance, safety or copyright matters in consultation with the General Counsel
  • Provide referrals to shop members for legal services outside the collective bargaining agreement including but not limited to immigration, employment discrimination, workers compensation and unemployment matters
  • Review and negotiate furlough, severance and/or lay-off agreements for either individual members and/or a shop-wide basis
  • Facilitate equity and inclusion initiatives as required by shop leadership in coordination with equity and inclusion initiatives of Guild leadership
  • Facilitate press strategy at each shop in coordination with the Director of Communications
  • Train shop members and shop leaders in various topics including but not limited to their rights under the collective bargaining agreement, Weingarten rights and/or shop leadership skills
  • Attend internal and/or outside trainings as required to maintain and develop skills for the position
  • Attend WGAE Council meetings
  • Attend weekly Enforcement and Negotiation meetings
  • Update the enforcement google sheet to maintain accurate records of the Business Agent’s shop actions
  • Maintain current shop member lists
  • Communicate with shop members about the Guild dues structure and facilitate compliance
  • Provide consistent updates at all assigned shop to the General Counsel
  • Additional tasks and job duties may be assigned at the discretion of management to assist with servicing and organizing all WGAE members and potential members
